“Ruth and Richard are a real life couple from the UK who have been married for 45 years. They began life modelling in 2008 as a way of being involved with creative people and are known for their stillness and connection in their duo poses. Most of their work is with life groups in and around Yorkshire but they began participating in Zoom sessions during the Covid pandemic and have now worked with artists online across five continents. They now also work with photographers who “get” what they’re about as an older couple promoting mature bodies in figurative art, and when they’re not working they enjoy travel, sunshine and good wine. ”

Artist of inspiration : Isabella Ducrot
In this session we take the art of Isabella Ducrot as inspiration for the 10 poses. We take her series on tenderness as the theme of the session. Helen Roeten will tell about life and art during the session. Her mixed media artwork can be used as a technique for creating.

Helen Roeten likes to represent older art models and has a focus on female artists . Because a lot of great women artists are still not known well.

About Isabella Ducrot :

Isabella Ducrot, a painter in Rome, didn’t really pick up a brush until her fifties. Four decades later, galleries and museums throughout Europe are celebrating her work.

When creating her works, she stands and uses a brush sometimes attached to a stick, sweeping loose arcs of ink or paint onto paper or fabric. She often later incorporates scraps of other papers or textiles. Her painted collages usually depict ecstatic figures and stylized landscapes; arrays of ovals or checkered patterns are a recurring feature. Typically made in series, her works are light, energetic, and uninhibitedly beautiful.

In this lifedrawing session we focus on a series that Ducrot calls “Tendernesses”; they show two figures exuberantly entangled amid a patchwork of patterned blocks. Secured to the gallery walls with pins, the paintings—like the blissful people depicted within them—seem to float unsupported.
